Our Artists

KATAN is also a community of Brighton artists, who have a common goal: making high quality, individual art accessible to all

Frédérique Katan

Frederique is the owner and creative director of Katan. Whilst her background is in law and business, her corporate informed rather than altered her creative instinct and artistic interests. Though skilled in many different media, she is best known for her energetic abstract large statement pieces packed with gorgeous hues and metallic finishes.

Peter Spence

Peter draws on his background in mathematical research to create structured yet playful works with vivid colours. Inspired by artists such as Mondrian and art movements like Pointillism, Peter’s paintings make up a beautifully eclectic collection.

Kim Dobson

Kim creates fun and colourful prints with a unique technique that allies technology, design and abstract painting. Even her brighter, more vivid pieces display perfectly balanced chromatic palette and compositions. Kim’s prints epitomise the modern seascape.

Tiffany Lynch

Tiffany creates dreamy artworks using acrylics and a unique stencilling technique. With soft hues and fun compositions, Tiffany’s works are filled with magic and wonder.

Kirsty Craghill

Kirsty’s bold yet somewhat whimsical paintings perfectly embody her creative flair and audacious personality. Drawing great inspiration from her love of animals, each of Kirsty’s works is bounding with character. She paints her inimitable animal on large canvases and uses inks for smaller works.

Chris Greaves

Chris combines his traditional training in natural history illustration, his love of contemporary painting and his interest in digital media to create quirky pop culture as well as wildlife images.

Richard Marsh

Richard’s architectural knowledge and skills as a professional illustrator are both present in his stunning, impressionistic watercolours. His luminous chromatic scales bring a unique feel to his paintings of Brighton and Sussex landmarks.

Pascale de la Carbouade

Pascale is a successful French artist who sees her own work as naive, primitive and quirky, her paintings always flowing from her own imaginary fairytale.

Joe Gatford

Joe has an incredible talent for creating life like renditions of anything he turns his brush (or pencils)to. Through his fascination for comics, games and fandom, Joe uses his art as a creative outlet for those interests. Working mainly with pastels and oils, he creates iconic portraits in pastel as beautifully as he paints mural style pieces in oils.
